Our hopes stay alive as a visitor to the SCRAPS humane society in Spokane has written in the following:

I have sent SCRAPS a not and asked that they visit this site and see if they believe that beagle looks like Bart.  If he's anywhere close, I'll fly there and look for myself.

No news lately, not even much of a stray beagle being spotted of late. 

On a good note, Linda, the gal who took care of Beau for a couple of days found another beagle at the local humane society and gave him a home.  Hunter, a 1 1/2 y/o beagle now has a very good home with a caring mom and dad.  He's one lucky pup.  We wish them all the best.

Several places are still calling in to see if we want to keep Bart's poster up.  We appreciate them keeping it up this long and still ask for more time.  We just don't have any clue as to where he might be or who has him.  Something is bound to pop soon, it's very hard to wait for it. 

Thanks for keeping an eye on this site for information.  We can't wait for the day when we're able to post a big found sign on here.

It's hard to believe a week or so has gone by without any beagles brought into our store.  We did check out a couple that were found on-line by Laura.  They did not pan out to be Bart but it does allow us give them vital information that we have learned along the way.
There have been a couple of prayer groups that have stepped up to offer their prayers and support.  One of them sounds to be very powerful.  We always keep high hopes and positive thoughts that Bart is back with us.  Some day he will be!

Two more calls over the last two days for the wondering beagle on St. Johns and 88th street.  Both say the beagle resembles Bart but it's tough to get a good look since nobody can get near him.

We received a nice note from some folks in the Philippines and reads as follows:

"Hi, I am sorry to hear about your Bart. Funny thing is our beagle is also named Bart. Must be a common name for a beagle. We are from the Philippines. Your Bart is a great looking dog and I can see he is truly loved by so many. I do hope you find him soon. Trouble with our beagles is they are so very friendly and will just approach anyone never really barking and stuff. Good luck with your search. I hope your Bart comes home soon."

Sandy, a fellow beagle person, had a misfortune and had to sell her two beagles.  After a month the person cannot keep them and wants to give them back.  Like we always said, so many people just don't know what they are getting into with beagles.  Anyway, she needs a home for them and cannot take them back herself because she now lives in an apartment.  These other people are going to take them to the humane society if she is unable to take them back within a week.  They are two brothers that are almost two years old.  Their names are Teak and Ash.  If you or anyone you know can give these guys a home, let me know.  That will help the overcrowding at the humane society from getting worse and give a boost to your life.
If I can get some pictures soon, I'll post them on here.

This has sure been the quietist week we've seen in a while.  No stray calls or sightings or anyone else dropping off a beagle to us.
Maybe a quiet time before a storm or what.
I thought for sure we would hear back from someone on St. John's who might have spotted that beagle again.  The gal who called me last week has not been heard of since.  I keep driving around that area, but nothing.

We'll keep the faith and know that something will happen soon.

Apparently the little beagle captured was NOT the illusive one spotted on St. Johns several times as first thought.  I received a phone call from a gal who has seen this beagle for the past 2-3 weeks.  She saw one of our flyers in the mini mart today and called me when she got home.  She had just seen the guy a few minutes prior to our conversation.  I drove over there and looked around but he was nowhere in sight.
A couple hours later she called me back and said she had him contained in a chicken coup.  So I ran over there as fast as I could only to be called on the way saying he escaped out of the coup.  She felt very bad but as I told her, beagles are notorious for finding a way out of whatever predicament they are in.
I was just happy to hear that there still might be a chance that it is Bart and he's roaming the area.  She is going to keep a close eye out and try to entice him with some food.  Bart had been the friendliest beagle you can imagine but who knows what he's been through and what state of mind he is in.  Even if it is not Bart we still need to get this guy safe and sound.  He's been spotted on the busy street a number of times and more than likely, there will be on to many times.

The cute little girl we had in our possession went home with some foster parents last night.  We are still trying to find her real parents now but nobody is coming forward.  If we cannot find them after 30 days, then these nice people want to adopt her.  She is very sweet and friendly and has been taken care of by someone.  It's just weird that they would let her run around near that busy street with no identification.  She is in good hands at the moment as these people are good customers and have another beagle.  They reported today that there has been much play time and everyone is happy.  We are very happy to place her in there care.

The wondering beagle that has been spotted on St. Johns several times may have finally been captured.
A phone call to the store on Saturday revived some hope as a girl on the other end said, "I think I got your dog."  Of course I've heard this many times so I'm not shouting out that we've got him just yet.  I asked where she picked him up at and she told me he was on St. Johns around 106th.  It was then I suspected it was our elusive beagle spotted be several other people.  The dog was again running down the middle of the road dogging cars.  She offered to bring him to the store and I told her that would be great.  Upon her arrival I walked to her car only to be disappointed once more as it was not our Bart.

It was a sweet little GIRL beagle that was about half the size of Bart and not even close to our Bart in color.  I guess they all look some what alike.  From the black and white photo she saw at the mini mart, she thought to take the chance. 
She had no collar, no micro chip, no sort of way to tell where she belongs.  We called the humane society and left her information and our phone number.  We'll put in a found ad and probably go to a few of the houses along St. Johns and see if they no where she belongs.  We're a little hesitant if this is the same beagle that has been spotted several times because each time, the caller said they almost hit her out in the road.  If we find out where she belongs, we'll see what we can do to help them keep her reeled in.  If anyone knows this beagle and/or where she might belong, please let me know.

Bart's disappearance has brought together many people who never knew each other before.  This event has started people becoming interested in fostering.  That is a service in need everywhere.  Some good has to come out of each tragedy.  Many good things have come out of Bart being gone but it still leaves a hole in our hearts.  We know we'll see our boy again once he's finished with whatever mission he is on.  Please hurry...

One of the good things that happened is Bo coming into our lives.  He's turning into a great store dog/greeter and is doing his best to fill Bart's paws until he returns.  We are becoming attached to the boy and may keep him after all.  A lady came into the store the other day who was interested in adopting Bo.  I told her he is doing a great job for us and is in no hurry to go anywhere and that there are a few beagles we know that need someone's help now.
She agreed and went and looked at one of them that was in Portland, OR.  She is now a proud owner of that beagle.  The gal who was fostering wrote to us.

Thank you Parvaneh for being such a caring person who took in a stray beagle while his permanent home was being sought after.

Never underestimate the power of the beagle as Uno won "Best In Show" at the big dog show this year.  See picture on right.
Beagles are 5th in the nation for popularity.  They are a wonderful breed.
Bart is a good looking boy, wouldn't it be great to see him up there?
Just kidding as every dog has there day and this one belongs to Uno.  It's been a long, long time since a beagle won this honor.

Suzanne, the wonderful caring lady who took in Cooper I spoke of a few days ago, stopped in the store.  She was broken up over the fact that Cooper had severe liver damage and the vet had to put him down.  He was only in her life for a week but she grew very attached to the little guy.  That's what beagles can do to you.  They have a way of pulling you in....

Suzanne knew there had to be a purpose for him being in her life for the short time.  She wanted to be around beagles now and help them in any way she could.  We told her about many other beagles needing help.  One place is the Cascade Beagle Rescue Group in Portland.  She contacted them and is proud to say that she is now fostering Jack.

Jack's Story
This boy was found as a stray in a wooded area and held at a shelter for weeks hoping his owner would come for him.  When CBR picked him up, he was full of fear and would hardly lift his head as he trembled. 
He is coming around now and will make someone a fine pet!  Keep watching for details as his personality unfolds here.  Jack is currently recovering from neuter surgery, is fully vaccinated and microchipped.  If you are interested in adopting Jack, please complete the adoption application.
