Dear Roger and Kris,

My husband and I will make a conscious effort to help find him.  We know how you feel - having been there ourselves.  Please know that you are in our thoughts and our prayers.

Marlene & Gene Faria

I will keep my eyes open.  Hope you find him, that is horrible

Can you scan a flyer into the e-mail.  We can post them around.  Or we can stop by and pick some up.  We will let everyone we see know.  He will be home soon!

Roger, please send a flyer to Kathleen Hansen. She is one of our webmasters for DOGPAW, and can hopefully forward the flyer to our membership. Good luck, and we will be looking for Bart!!

Dear Roger and Kris,
You will be in my thoughts and prayers while you search for Bart.  I've met him a couple of times and he is a very special guy.  Don't give up searching, keep checking all of the local veterinarian offices, the Humane Society and the other animal shelters from Clark County outward.
I share this because I lost my Australian Shepherd  "Bugz" in the summer of 2005.  She ran away in broad daylight and we could not find her.  After over three weeks of frantic searching, phone calls, posters, etc., I had pretty much given up.  I could not go to the Humane Society one more time and leave in tears.  Low and behold, she came out the woods, not 5 blocks from where I lived after more than 28 days of being gone.  I was called right away, because my plastic wrapped poster was on a light pole in front of the man's house into whose yard she had wandered.   I considered it a miracle, but during my search for her was told by many people to not give up.  If you need any help putting up posters, or making phone calls, please let me know.

Roger,
That’s awful! I could loan you Dine to discourage the coyotes – apparently they instinctively don’t like his smell or he theirs; but since I can’t let him lose to run wherever that may not be much help after the fact.  Even the fox that used to appear on garbage now avoids our street.I will send this flyer around to me Ridgefield friends.  I do still identify the business as Robinson Cold Storage from decades ago.

Good luck, I’m sure he’ll return if he’s allowed and able.

i lost my  cat one, he was a himilay blue point who had never been outside, my 4 year old decided to set him free!
I spent 10 days scouring my area day and night knocking on every single door within a 4 mile radius, I bet a drove 500 miles down 15 blocks, my family thought I was insane, I had a 500 reward,NOTHING happened, finally on the 10th night my family literally said it had to stop , that had to be the last day, I went outside one last time at about midnight and called for him, and I heard a very small MEWWWWWW
IT was him! he was under my car terrified, it took another hour to coax him out, but I finally brought him in, he was so scared, cold and hungry,I layed him in the sink like a baby, gave him a bubble bath and hand fed him salmon as he lay there looking at me with the happiest expresion I have ever seen on a cat!  I still have him he is 19 now, that was about 10 years ago.
I really hope your find him, I will pull the list and get it over in a little bit

Hi Roger & Kris,
I like in Battle Ground (Meadow Glade area) but you never know...I'd love to put a few flyers up. He probably did slip his collar and is sitting with someone in their home while they try to look for the owner. Maybe try animal control too, when ours have gone on little "excursions" they have been picked up quickly. Good luck, all of you will be in our thoughts and prayers!

I am so sorry! Please send flyer.  You all will be in our prayers.

Hi Roger, Kris,

I called Bobi Angelo (I used to board my horses at her barn), She’s in the big yellow house just down the road from you guys on 10th.  She said she’d definitely keep an eye out for Bart and will let everyone in the barn know to look for him as well.  Some of the boarders ride their horses out in the back field so they’ll keep an eye out there too.  Bobi will call if anyone sees him ….

I’m so sorry to hear about Bart,,,, please let me know when you find him and I’ll stop worrying …

Could you send me an email flyer?
Also, when and where is the search going to continue?  I am available later in the day on Wednesday.  You can leave me a message at 360-XXX-XXXX with details.
P.S.  Have you thought about sending a press release to the Comlumbian?  That might help.

I am praying Bart's safe return.

Roger,
I really hope that Bart is ok.  Harry is good, I hope he can help.
Tell Harry I said Hi.
Best of luck

Hi Roger,

I stopped and talked to the construction workers at 10th and 259th but none of them had seen Bart.  I also drove by your house just to see if he might be sitting on the porch but no luck (there is a border collie at your house).  I also drove down the street north of yours (I believe their property backs up to yours) but I didn’t go to their doors in case you have already done so.  I will post the flyer at my children’s elementary school today because all of the children in this area go to their school.  Let me know what else I can do.

I'm so sorry Bart is missing. I hope you find him. I'll keep a lookout in my area (off 199th near 41st). Keep the faith.

I am so sorry to hear Bart is missing...........  I will be looking while I drive.  I know what its like to lose a dog...  I was lucky..  Mine was found and is home.

I put about 50 flyers out.

Good luck

Let me know when he is found.

Hello,
If this is Bart, the resident greeter at the Beastie Boutique; our hopes and hearts go out to you.  We love to see him when we frequent the store.  Again,  we hope you find your fella soon.
Sincerely,

The Dunlap & Spillman Crew

Hi Kris and Roger,

I am so sad and horrified about little Bart. I will look always for him when I am out and about. I live in Whipple Creek, and sometimes stray cats appear. I don't know if people drop off dogs or not, but we will surely be looking. I am so very sad for you and for Bart. It happened so suddenly, I can hardly believe it! Are you sure your neighbors don't have him? I suppose they wouldn't steal a dog so close to home. I am impressed with all of your efforts to find him as well as alerting us all about what can happen. You will be in my heart and thoughts always, awaiting the good news that Bart is back at work at the Boutique!!

Sincerely, Gay Kane

Roger and Kris:

I am so sorry to hear that someone stole Bart.  He will be missed, and I know you hurt in your hearts over this.  There is nothing you could really do, if these people get a plan together, it is so hard to stop them.  Keep spreading the word and check out “Beagles for Sale” on the internet.  Maybe he still can be found.  I think you are doing all the right things.

We are so sorry, if there is anything we can do let us know- We own

there is anything we can do.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss.  I will defiantly keep my eyes open for anyone selling a beagle or a beagle on the road.  I hope that Bart is found.  We will miss him at the store; I cannot even imagine how much you are missing him.  I will keep you guys in our prayers!

Christei Lindsley

This is just breaking my heart. I have been checking Craigs List and Petfinder and I hope it makes the news tonight. I know it's not much, but I would like to offer a donation of $25 towards the reward if someone finds him. I'm sure others would be willing to help you in this way as well. Stay positive and take care!

Julie Davis

I am a customer and just sick about this.  I have forwarded it to all my friends in the Ridgefield area (especially).  I hope and pray you find your wonderful dog.  This is kind of like an amber alert, dog style.

Karen in Salmon Creek

Dear Rodger and Kris, We are very sorry to here about bart! We will keep our eyes and ears open for any thing we can. Please have Kris bring a flyer to my salon when she comes in for her hair cut.I will stick it up.And talk to clients about Bart.Good luck!! Vickey Abbott  [Hair by the river]. P.S. We have two Beagles too! We have had them missing before and they have been found, hope this will happin to Bart!!

Roger and Kris,
I am very sorry to hear about Bart.  I know you are probably receiving tons of emails and phone calls about this.  I would be sick if something happened to one of our dogs.  As a matter of fact one of our dogs used to be what we would call an "escape artist".  She could and would get out of anything we tried to keep her in the yard when we would leave.
So long story short both times she escaped good people found her and took great care of her until we could pick her up.  I am a believer in the micro chip because without that we may not have her still today.
Of course now she stays inside while we are gone since we live so far out.
The point I was trying to make is that there are still good people out there that care about animals.  Posting Bart's picture everywhere as well as getting it on the news hopefully will attract enough attention to get him back.
We live in North County ~ a good spot to find "dropped off" dogs.  We will keep our eyes open at all times.
Please keep the faith that there are more good people out there that will find Bart and return him safe and sound.  We will pray for his safe return as well.
Good luck,
Kim Spencer

Way to go!!!  Good luck with turning up the heat to Burn in Hell level!

Dear Kris and Roger,

I was saddened to hear of Bart's disappearance earlier and am now just heartbroken to learn that he was likely stolen. It's always been a pleasure to see Bart standing in his "igloo" when we come to visit the shop. I hope you both know how many people care about the pain, anger and frustration that you're going through. I can feel how hard this must be.

With so many people on the lookout, there may be a good chance to find Bart and reunite him with his family. Evelyn, Koa and I will keep our eyes and ears open (we live in downtown Vancouver, but he could well turn up here). I also volunteer at the Southwest Washington Humane Society and I know everyone there will be extra vigilant for Bart.

Our hopes and prayers are with you.

Paul Ventura and Evelyn Davis

Roger and family,   I shall pray for Barts safe return...  Susan

Godspeed to you all & especially little Bart.
Buddy & Lucy will expect to see him back at the store when we come back & SORRY about Saturday but things went south around here.
My heart is with Bart & you guys right this very minute & I pray to God right now that he intervenes & returns the pooch to you right away.
I have lost one cat twice over the years, both times he was gone almost 2 long months but with fliers up & lots of prayer & never giving up faith he was spotted both times.
Wow, I could write a book about that!
I can only imagine how I'd feel if Lucy & Buddy were missing & I especially know how bad they'd feel because while they are highly social & all they know Mom & home & love it the best.
Keep the faith & I have heard of Mr Oakes, he replied to my ad in petfinder.com & I went on every website known to mankind to post an ad & a pic when I lost my Mickey.
You cannot know how sad I am for you but am so very hopeful.
I hope Bart is the type to run away from strangers if abducted like my pooches would.  Is he?
If you find the creeps that did it I'd like a piece of them!!!!!  hugz, patti

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I hope Bart is home soon, really soon. Take care, Dundas family.

Roger and Kris,
I'm so sorry...but like you said, with all of the attention on finding Bart, whoever has him might get nervous that neighbors etc will notice their new "pet". Most of us take computers for granted but there are so many people don't have them. I hope that the TV stations do come through so that as many folks as possible can be reached. Good luck, hope all turns out well. My husband and I are both praying that it does.
Sandra & Gary Volk

Roger,

I am sending your information on Bart and his picture out to all of our members in Oregon and Washington.  I sure hope you find him—I can’t imagine Beastie Boutique without him. I am so sad for him and both of you as well.

Earlene Holmstrom

You do know about many of the pet finding websites right?
I know it seems like finding the proverbial needle in a heystack but Ridgefield is relatively small & with Bart's pics at all the businesses in town & such there's a good chance he'll be spotted but regardless if he would go with anyone don't you think after a few days he'd miss his real home & parents & try to flee?
I sure hope he would figure it out.  I wonder if in the ads you could say he requires medical attn & medicine or some such & if the captor's heard that they'd take him back?
But for money & no questions asked I'm sure they would do that too.

I will keep my eyes wide open for bart...

My God you guys! I can't believe what I'm reading! I can't begin to tell you how sorry I am to hear this has happened to Bart. My thoughts and hopes are all for seeing Bart make it home safe and sound. Also living in Ridgefield, I'll certainly keep my eyes and ears open for any information that could help. Keep spirits up, and strong community of support will bring Bart back home.

Condolences,
Kevin McCracken

Roger,
I stopped by and saw the Ch 12 news van at the store. One idea I had is checking the Dog Parks in the early hours as this is a typical 'drop off ' spot for dogs. It happens all of the time. Most regular park users will call animal control at first sight of an abandoned dog at the park.
We are thinking of you tonight,
Jean, Mike and Jasmine-

I'm so sorry to hear this, I'll keep my eyes open for him.

We are praying for you and for Barts safe return.  Please email me the flyer and i will make copies and post it all around down town Ridgefield. We live down here and I will post it at South Ridge Elementary were our son goes to school, because kids like to talk.   I hope you and Kris are hanging in there, you are such great people who deserve only the best this world has to offer,  We will keep you and Bart in our prayers.

I am sooooo sorry to hear that!  I will definatley keep my eyes open.  Have you gone down to the Humane Society?  We get in A LOT of dogs every day, come down for a look, but I will keep my eyes peeled while I'm at work there :)
Good luck, and my heart is with you guys...and lil Bart-man :)
Hugs, Michell

My Husband and I are praying for Barts safe return home. I was up at the Beastie Boutique today, and was just sick, when I saw  Barts picture, and found out, he was missing. Now, I am even sicker to learn what may have happened to him. I don't even know what to say to you, except that I am truly sorry, and I hope that luck will bring your beloved pet home to you. Both my Husband and myself have our eyes and ears open, and are passing the word around. May the force be with you.
Kari Fiene and Paul Matson

I am so sorry to hear about that Bart is missing. I/We will be on vigi with prayers for his safe return.
We walk twice every day with our dog Molly and over to HB Fuller for ball chuck it rounds daily, plus I drive my car commuting from various schools in the area as a nurse daily so I will be looking for Bart. Hopefully there will be signs up for a found dog.
We will keep watch!
Sincerely,
Fran, Mike, Eva, Eric, Molly, Daphne

Roger,
My heart goes out to you.  I lost my German Shepard a few years ago and still my heart aches for her.  I will keep you and your family in my prayers.
Patti Hart-Reeves

Good Morning Roger and Kris,

Wow what a suprise that someone would take Bart.  We for sure will keep our eyes peeled and I will be reading every add and keeping my eyes open at all times.  We will get Bart back and let these (kids or adults) know that it is not a joke or a prank.  Best wishes and we hope to have good news soon.

thats sucks!
does he have a micro chip?

Roger & Kris,
I just read about Bart and please let us know if there is anything we can do. This is just horrible and very wrong!  We will be diligent in the look out for Bart!

Our prayers are with you,

Ken & Amy Dixon

Good Morning,  Just yesterday my husband and I drove by Beastie Boutique for the first time.  We talked about it and we said that the next time we went to my new doctor, we'd plan ahead and stop by.  We too LOVE our pets as family members.

I was up early this morning watching the news -- surgery has my schedule off -- and heard about your dog.  I'm so sorry about your loss . . . but I serve a mighty God and he cares about PETS TOO so I am praying.  I am praying that either someone who knows something calls the police or that the person who has Bart has a softening of the heart and returns Bart.  Again, I'm so sorry -- but I'm in bed the next week recovering from surgery -- so I will pray.  Sincerely,  Karen

I believe with all my heart that Bart will be home soon. He made the news and this is a really good way to get the word out.

Stay strong and believe!

Oh God !  There is some nasty people out there for sure.  They should be the ones placed on a collar and nailed to the ground for pulling this kind of stuff.  I am always worried about Honey because anybody can take one look at her and fall in love or simply take her to get a reward and I really do not know what I would do without her.

I am so glad that Harry came over and at least gave you a lead.  I am out there driving around a lot because my business requires it and I am looking out for Bart as I drive everywhere.

Look in craigs list too under pets.  There has to be a law that places people in jail and gives them a stiff fine for stealing a pet.  After all, pets are people too and what is the punishment is someone would still our kid?

Is there something we all pet owners can do to pass some type of law that punishes the offenders of this type of cruelty?  Only the emotional and mental stress that something like this puts us through is enough to give us a heart attack !  Our pets are our kids and for some people like me, a pet means our mental and emotional sanity.

If there is anything else I can do besides looking for Bart on the streets, please let me know.  I would really love to do more.

Isabella and Honey

Can you please send me some still photos of Bart? Also, would you be available for interview today?

Thank you.

Hello. I live RIGHT down the street from your store. I wanted to stop by sometime today if I have the time to get a few fliers to hang them up. I know a great place to place a flier would be south on HWY 99, 1/2 way to winco there is a dog washing place called Dog gone clean and then there is a dog food store next door to that. I would place fliers in both of the stores. They are *awesome* people and I know they would post fliers. I also would reccomend placing an ad on a website called AAPBA and WBCCA. The wcbba website, if you want to put together a post for me I can get that on there as well as the aapba if you do not have time. If you have the time I can post the link to the aapba, they are an ALL BREED registry that is pretty local, castle rock. Here is the link straight to the message board.
Again I can post on the wcbba board if you can get me a post that you want up.
Good Luck in finding bart. I know how sickening it can be to loose a pet, I had someone steal one of my chihuahuas exactly 1 year ago, right here at my home and I am baout 1/8 of a mile from your store if that. I live down the road that runs down the side of Safeway. Someone stole him from our home. I posted everywhere and even offered a free AKC pup from one of my litters as a reward.
It is not easy to live with what so ever. I will pray for your family in your time of need. I hope that I can help in the search of Bart. I am hoping that someone really did not steal him, that maybe just maybe they took him thinking that he was lost.
Do you know of Craigslist.org? I will also post 2 link to that. Post in the pets section and the lost and found.
Here are the links to that as well.

Dear Roger and Kris,
I'm so sorry to hear about Bart's disappearance, I'm a dog lover and can't understand why people do such things.
Will be on the watch for Bart, I hope you find him, because our pets are like our children.
Thinking of you Sharon Smith, I will miss seeing Bart when I come in the store, he is a bright spot in my day.
Sharon Smith

What???? I love Bart. How did this happen>? Was it at the store. Tell Kris that Michelle and the French Bulldogs are praying for Barts safe return. We sure do miss Vancouver and the Beastie Boutique. Have not found a comparable store here in Florida. Please keep us all posted on Barts status.

Good morning Roger and Kris,

I hope this note finds you both doing o.k.  It is so hard to understand why someone would actually be in our neighborhood and steal one of our beloved dogs. I am writing to tell you that Gene and I would like to contribute $100 to the reward money to hopefully entice these people to return Bart to you.

Thanks!

I saw this on the news this AM and thought it could not be “our Bart” and then I saw the photo .. I am so sorry.. and will pray for his quick and unharmed return.. Mary W

Hello,

I saw you on the news last night ~ I am so sorry for your loss....Our 2 doxies are our family and I know Bart is family too.  Remember to check on Craigslist, there are pets there with "rehoming" fees. You and Bart are in our prayers for a safe coming home.

Hi Roger and Kris,
I am so very sorry to hear about Bart.  I do hope you find him.  It takes an especially cold heart to steal a dog.  This happened to me many years ago and I have never forgotten how sad it made me.  Sparky and Abby and I will keep you and Bart in our thoughts--and we will keep our eyes open!  Best of luck.  I hope this turns out to be one of those holiday stories that brings warm tears of joy to everyone's eyes!
Best,
Kandy Robertson

We were in the store on Saturday to pick up our photos and saw Bart as usual. We are so sorry to hear he's missing. I am forwarding this to people I know who live in the area, and also at work. We board our horse at Tim Wigren's - Command Performance. I hope whoever did this is caught, but most of all, I hope Bart comes back safe. You are in our prayers.

Julie Backous

Hi Roger,

I certainly will be on the lookout and will spread the word. I just have this feeling deep in my heart that you will find him unharmed. I am assuming that he is microchipped. My thoughts are with you always. Thanks for the email.

Gay

My heart and prayers go out to you.  I can only imagine how you must feel to lose a member of the family, and the violation upon concluding that it was a deliberate act.
I saw your news story on Channel 12 this morning.  I live in the Salmon Creek Area, near your store I will keep my eyes open.  I also read the classified ads on Craig’s List daily, I will be sure to include the pet section from now on.
If you think a bigger reward would entice the kidnappers, I am willing to kick in some cash, as I am sure many of your loyal customers would.

Good Luck in your quest.

Ken Leava

I saw it on the news today.  I am so sorry, good luck in finding him.  My thoughts are with you.

Hi Roger & Kristina,

Just a quick note to express my heartfelt prayers for Bart's safe return.  Please let me know if there is anything you need.

Susan

Roger,

We were so sorry to hear about Bart. We really hope that whomever did this comes to their senses
and returns Bart to his loving family as soon as possible. We will of course keep our eyes and ears open,
and if we hear of anything we will let you know.
You are in our thoughts, and so is Bart.

Marius Karoy

Hello,

my name is Sage Saenz and I am the owner of the Wishing Well, a retail store here in Vancouver.
I am so sorry to hear about the disappearance our dog. We have a store dog as well and I can imagine how much you are hurting. We will pray that he finds home safely.

I live quite far from where Bart disappeared, but nevertheless I will keep an eye out for your loved one.  He will be in my prayers.

Love, Billye Bowles

i cant imagine, i have attached a pic of my boy, I am always terrified of theft, I have 4 english mastiffs that run the paremeter of my fence, kind of like a mastiff moat, just for that reason. I hope he will come home,
One of the things that was suggested to me when I lost my cat, was to state that he needed life saving medication, that way if who ever took him thought he was going to get sick they would take him to the vet and then the micro chip would kick in.
That is what I did, I had on my flyer:

"help family pet missing"
Sebbie the Himilayan is missing, with out the medication he has to take each day HE could DIE
Please help him come home, he needs his medicine!

It might help

Roger & Kris:  Mike and I were so very sad to hear that sweet little Bart is missing.  We hope and pray that he will be back home with you soon.  Thank you for both of your emails.  We will tell all of our friends and neighbors about this and to be on the watch for Bart.  It is just awful to think that anyone could be so cruel to steal someone's beloved pet.  People like that should be put in jail for a long time and then maybe people would stop doing it.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Dee & Mike DiMarco Medina and Twiggy

Oh wow, I'm so sorry I just got your email. I did see your story on two news stations last night. If it turns out he was taken I hope it inspires someone to do the right thing. Watching Kris made me cry. Please let her know that people like myself care about very deeply about this. Take care.
Julie

Thank you for letting me know about Bart. I will certainly keep my eyes and ears open and if there is anything I can do to help please let me know.

We are so sorry for your loss. We are keeping our eyes open and watching the ads on line and in the paper for Bart. Know that you are in our prayers. If we have any leads we will let you know ASAP.
My daughter actually creid when I told her Bart was missing. She really loved coming into the store and seeing him. Please keep us posted on your progress in his safe return home.

Hello Roger and Kris:
I am so so sorry to hear about the dognapping.  He is such a wonderful dog and so patient. I remember when that was Sophia's only source of play time with another dog and hope he is found real soon.  Sophia would really miss him if she went into the store and Bart wasn't there so we will be hoping, looking and praying for his safe return.
We will all put Bart in our prayers,
Sharon and Sophia

Roger and Kris,

I am writing because I know what you are going through, and I wanted to express my support and empathy.

My MinPin named Zoe was stolen after she got out of our backyard a couple of months ago.  We were out of state at the time and our 18yr old son was "dog sitting".  We took the next flight home and entered the hell that I know you are experiencing right now.  We had nightmares of our 10lb baby out in the cold and rain, in our rural area, and every possible Bad Thing haunted us.  When I saw you on the news I knew exactly what you were going through.

After staying up 38 straight hours with no sleep in a constant search, we hired Harry Oakes.  He came down the next morning, did a track, and lost Zoe's scent at a railroad crossing where we found her paw prints in the mud.  I know Harry gets mixed reviews from people, and I was skeptical until I saw Zoe's prints.  I also knew they were hers because I have them in plaster at home, a gift from my wife.  He determined that Zoe was picked up by a person at that intersection and either driven or carried off.  Again, without her prints, I would have been skeptical.  After the track, it helped immensely to know that she was probably with people and not running out in the wild where she would surely die.  We resigned ourselves to the fact that even if we didn't get her back, she didn't suffer out in the woods wondering where we were.

We used the information from Harry to file a stolen dog report and got a case number.  We had already started flyering, and continued for the next several days.  We ended up putting up more than 250 flyers.  We also knocked on every single residence across three residential developments hoping to hear her barking from inside.  We went in person to every business, every shelter, and every veterinarian office, and we talked with the mail carrier for our part of town.  Zoe was chipped, and one of the first things we did was flag her as lost/stolen with the chip maker.

On the third day, our mail carrier told us that she saw a similar looking dog in a cul de sac in the next neighborhood.  We went there, saw that we had already put a flyer there, and decided to put several more right around where the mail carrier had seen a dog.  We again knocked on every door, and had an officer spend some time there sitting in his marked car.

On the fifth day, as I was out once again searching and feeling helpless, my phone rang.  The person claimed that her sister had my dog, had bought her at in the parking lot of a nearby grocery store, and had seen a flyer at an AM/PM and realized she had a stolen dog.  She wanted reimbursement for vet bills, which she said had receipts for.  I agreed, skeptical that she actually had Zoe.  We arranged to meet, and I broke down when she stepped out with my dog.  She asked for $400 for vet bills and what she paid for the dog.  I took the vet receipts, noticed that her name and address was on it (which was in the previously mentioned cul de sac), wrote her a $400 check to get my dog back, put her in the house, came back out,  memorized her license plate, thanked her.  After she left, I called my bank to stop the check and called the police.  It was clear, once I calmed down, that we had "turned the heat up" enough that the person who had taken my dog and given it to her 8 and 9 year old boys realized that they would never be able to take her outside, walk her, or enjoy her in any way.  We had flyers in front of her house and one was actually attached to her mailbox, by coincidence, which also showed the "saw it at AM/PM" story was bogus.

She had taken Zoe to a vet out of the area for shots.  The vet did not scan for a chip.  She then took her to the very shelter where I had two flyers up and had visited every day.  They licensed her and did not scan for a chip.  Both places defended themselves after we got Zoe back, saying that they scan dogs that are brought in as strays, but if someone claims the dog belongs to them they will not scan.

The purpose of this long winded message is to remind you that when it feels hopeless... DO NOT GIVE UP...  It only takes one lucky break to make the difference.  Talk to everyone.  Ask about vehicles in the area during the time frame that she was likely picked up (it sounds pretty short).  See if nearby businesses have video of their parking lots.  Check with the county for recently registered beagles.  Talk to every vet in the area.  Do everything you can think of.   BE VERY CAREFUL ABOUT SCAMS.  I got a call on the third day from a "company" that offered the service of doing residential notifications through a network of volunteers (I wish I could remember the name).  I Googled the name and it's a scam.  They called about five different times and I hung up each time.

HANG IN THERE.  I was completely caught off guard by the depths of the despair our experience brought to myself and my family.  Continue to channel that energy into action.  Keep searching.  Don't give up.  You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Ric

I did see this on the news, Sunday night I think.

Our neighbor thinks there has been dog-napping on the I-5 corridor for some time.  She sold a golden retriever puppy to a farm family in Roseburg and it was dog-napped.    She consulted a "psychic" that she knows and was told that the dog was put in the back of a U-haul and taken to Seattle.  She got a possible family name that we chased a while without finding the dog.  She thought there was a Vet involved, so the chance of being saved by the microchip didn't help.  If they want to consider something like this, they might also try a pet communictor my sister knows in LA.  I'm not sure if she can start with a "phone-only" consult, but she has done amazing work for my sister and her cats.  I just checked her web site and it is down right now, but they might try stephanielbrown.com.  Or google her as "Stephanie L. Brown."  They might mention that they heard about her through Verial's sister.

This is even more concerning to us because we have our dogs at the office.  Of course they are never alone, but I do turn my back sometimes, and that could be all it takes.  I wonder if Debra Wood would be interested in pursuing a story about dog-napping in general for her Oregonian column.  The news also had a recent story about a Yorkie stolen in Beaverton.  I think is was on the ten-o-clock news a few weeks ago.

Fell free to forward this to the dog's owner.  And good luck.
Veloris

He is a distinctive looking beagle, not ordinary. Most have white on their face, he will be remembered by folks.

I bet you will get him back!

I'll keep him and you guys in my prayers. We had a dog napping in our family and I understand how devastating it can be.

Good luck.

I will definitely keep a lookout in the Salmon Creek area and will inform my teenage son and his friends.  I am truly sorry for the pain you are experiencing and I can only imagine how our family would suffer.  We will certainly keep you and Bart in our prayers and hope that he is returned home soon.  I do appreciate the warning as I had no idea this was happening in our area.

Sincerely,

Terri Abernethy

Dear Kris and Roger,

It's me Pamela, from IPS, and I'm so sorry that Bart is missing.  Any word
on his whereabouts or has he come home now?  Don't despair and send him
mental images of his finding his way back home to you.  My daughter's kitty
(my dearest grand-kit) escaped from her Cap Hill apt. window last week and
two nights later miraculously climbed in that same window in the middle of
the night, after two days of all of us worrying ourselves sick and searching
and posting flyers.

Have you posted anything on craigslist.org Portland area on their pet
postings?  We did and had responses so you might want to try that if you
haven't already.

Meanwhile, we will hold him in our thoughts and hearts for a safe return to
you.

Love,

Pam and Valley Girl

We are hoping and thinking good thoughts that Bart will soon be home where he should be!  Keep the faith!

Hi Roger & Kristina,

I am so sorry to hear about this!  A friend at work gave me the Columbian article to read this morning.  I’ve been pet-sitting and not accessing my home email for that last few days.  I typed out this long email to you and left it at work in the draft folder.

It sounds like you’re doing all the right things and then some to find him.  I have something to add – this may seem simplistic, obvious, or silly…. but I hope you will give it a try.  Whenever you find yourself talking or thinking about your fears and worries for Bart – change it immediately to a statement of what you WANT, such as:

“I want Bart to come home NOW!”

Just keep saying exactly what you want to have happen whenever you get to worrying.  Say it out loud and/or say it in your mind.  You want to keep your focus and your energy on what you WANT not what you FEAR.

I have another suggestion.  My friend Carle Meeske Person is an animal communicator.  She doesn’t handle lost animals herself – she has an agreement with the spirit guides she works with – she doesn’t charge the client and the guides do the work.  If you’re interested, her website is:   www.spirithealer.com    Email or call her, tell her it’s a lost dog and you can tell you heard about her from me.

Best wishes – I will keep my eyes and ears open.

Sincerely,

Janella

Dear Mr. McLeskey,

Like I’m sure many other people have mentioned, I hope you find Bart. You will find Bart I’m sure. I have forwarded this email to friends and family. I will keep my eyes out for anything suspicious. I promise I will let you know if I hear anything.

Hi Roger & Kris,
I just wanted to let you know that I was down in Oregon with relatives for Thanksgiving, and everyone had heard about Bart, even a friend who had come from the Salem area. We're thinking about your family and continue to pray for Bart's safe return.

Roger and Kris,

My heart goes out to you both about Bart.  I have 3 dogs, so I totally understand what you are going through.  Every day when I turn on the news or open the paper I pray that there will be a story that Bart has been found.

Keep up the hope, don't get discouraged or give up.  I will continue to keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

I work at Kings Way Christian School on 78th st.  I would be more then happy to put a flyer up in the school, if that would be of help.  I have also told everyone I know to be on the look out.  If you would like me to put up a flyer where should I pick it up at?  I am still praying for your family and of course for Bart, it breaks my heart to hear about this stuff happening, I love animals!  If there is any other way I can help, let me know.

 Christei Lindsley

we will keep your family and Bart in our prayers.

I would be willing to post the flyers on your beloved Bart in Hockinson at the Chevron station.  You can drop them off or I will try to pick them up this week.

We are heart broken about Bart.  He's a great dog.  Our thoughts and prayers are for his safe return.

The Cascade Beagle Rescue might be able to help you finding a home for the St. Helen Beagle.  Their telephone # is 503-299-4084    You can check them out at www.cascaderescue.org  They do a marvelous job rescuing beagles from all over the US.  This last spring we adopted Kammi from them.

My thoughts go out to you guys. I will prey for barts return.

Hopefully, they find him.   I got here at my usual time, but I had to leave 25 minutes earlier and get up 15 minutes earlier.  C-Tran changed the location to exit and get on the bus. So I have to walk about three blocks further, but I’m here.

I heard all the news on the television, and also posted a flier at the Papa Pete's Ridgefield store where I work. I am just curious if he has been found? I never heard anything more about him!

My heart aches for your family and Bart.   I lost a dog for 5 days, and after several days of searching such as yourself, he showed up at SWWHS.   My prayers are with you and Bart.  Dawn

Hi Roger,

I was able to save it as an attachment. Is Bart still Missing? I am hoping he is home safe and sound!! Have you put him on Craigslist?

Diana Hedstrom

I'm so sorry about your dog...  we have a little beagle and it breaks my heart to hear that yours is gone.  good luck to you

I Roger, I just spoke with Kris and she asked me to email you and ask if you
could please send me an updated flyer on Bart.  Also, have you handed out
any on 259th?  How about the few houses and businesses across from the
Dollar Tree Warehouse where Ridgefield Family Medicine is? There is also a
lot of construction going on behind the Dollar Tree Warehouse.  Should I
hand out flyer's there?  Thank you Roger,

Lynne Reynolds

Hi,

A co-worker just showed me the Petfinder.com site, thinking about your Bart. There are several beagles there for rescue. If you haven’t already done so, check it out at www.petfinder.com. You can put in your zip code and find all kinds of beagles in the area. We all think of you every day and pray for Bart’s safe return.

Julie

I am sorry you lost your dog. None of us here have seen it. Sorry for the delay in the response.

Jill Novak

I will distribute the flyer at my job. I really hope you find him. He looks very sweet. I have a beagle myself and I felt the need to call and offer help. Please let me know if you find him. Thanks. Fiamma

Hi,

I live in Ridgefield also. Two years ago my dog was stolen. Craigslist  is how I found him.  He was found in the middle of a busy intersection in NE Portland. He was gone for 5 days. The couple who grabbed him out of the intersection wouldn’t take any reward money. They posted a found ad and I saw it. I almost did not reply due to the location. Has the Columbian or Reflector done stories about him yet? Also, maybe the news stations would due a story. A  $5,000 reward should bring him home.

Keep trying and good luck, Suzy

Thank you and the best to you and yours. I have said a prayer that Bart will come home.

Sincerely:
Gail

Hi there, I hope & wish you all the best in finding your baby (dog) I will keep you & your family in our prayers. God bless you all.

I am truly heartbroken to learn about the kidnapping of your beagle. Where on your website is the downloadable poster located? I live in Maple Valley, WA and the pet store where I buy my kitty food is WONDERFUL. The employees are always concerned and helpful, and they have a wide-spread customer base. It is called Mud Bay, and they have several stores around the puget sound. I will print off fliers for the Maple Valley store, and give them instructions on how to get more for their other stores. They have a lot of customers and are sincere animal lovers, I only hope that it can help. Please just let me know how to download your poster. My prayers and positive thoughts are with you and your family

Hi folks,
I think about Bart & your situation often and offer up prayers for his safe return.  I wanted to offer you some encouragement from my own experience.  I had a cat that disappeared from a petsitters apartment across town from where I live in early October of 2006.  I searched & put up flyers, checked with the Humane Society and advertised her in the local paper--nada.  In APRIL of 2007 I got a call from the Humane Society--someone had dumped her over the fence onto the grounds (didn't even have the decency to bring her inside the building) and they picked her up & scanned her for a chip and...well, I got my cat back long after giving up hope for her safe return via her AVID chip.  I am fully convinced that someone took her in at that apartment complex and ignored my pleas for her return because she was very sociable and pretty.  I guess they eventually got tired of her?
Anyway, don't give up hope.  That microchip will give him his best chance of getting home to you.
Keep us posted.  I will keep watching out for him too.
Liz Grauer

I checked out your website and my heart goes out to you.  We love our dogs so much and can't imagine your pain.  Here is a link to the Oregonian newspaper and their contact information.  GOOD LUCK!

Hi There,

I'm sorry to say I don't have any leads about Bart, but your story truly touched my heart. I have an 8 month old beagle, Jack, and I can't imagine life without him.  I've already printed off the PDF flyers you have on your website and plan on taking them to my local Humane Society and Animal Shelters.  I will also post as many as I can at gas stations, grocery stores, etc.  I am located in Bellingham, WA, and I will keep my fingers crossed that he returns home safely soon.

Shelby Bruyn

Hello!

I hope this holiday season brings you closer to finding your beloved Bart.  I completely understand your broken heart over his disappearance, and have posted it on my dog blog on the Seattle PI.

Feel free to post a comment as well.  The more people we reach the better.

Good luck and my thoughts are with you and your family.

Roger and Kris:

My sister was visiting with me during the Christmas season.  She is a reporter in Vacaville, CA.  She is going to get in touch with someone she knows who is a CB radio enthusiast and is a memeber of some CB club in an effort to get the word out about Bart.

I also have friends who are psychics and are going to ask them to do a search for him.

Let's see what we can do.

Carolyn Fu-Abshire

Dear Kristina and Roger:
We were at your boutique this past August.  We were visiting my sister Sherry and her husband Fred who live in Vancouver.  We are from Rochester, MN.  Bart was a great greeter and such a sweetheart!  I don't know if you would remember me, but I use a manual wheelchair and you helped me to decide on a bracelet.  I also got some goggles and some peanut butter/jelly flavored dog treats for my dog Blue to bring back to him in Minnesota.  Blue is my service dog, but he stays at my good friend's house when we come to Vancouver.  Even though he is allowed everywhere with me, it is better for him to stay with friends for the brief time we are gone.  Otherwise, he is with me 24/7 and he is not only my service dog, but constant companion and best friend.
Sherry had heard about your boutique and since we are both such dog lovers, we decided to visit.  We found Bart and your store fascinating and enjoyed our experience very much.  This time it was the highlight of our trip!  My sister Sherry has been back after you helped her to decide what supplements to add to her dog's food.  Sherry's dog is a black Pomeranian named Becky who rides in a stoller.  You may remember them too.  Becky is shown in the Channel 12 news video after Bart went missing.  I just found Bart's web site and viewed it along with the updates and slide show.  Sherry called to let me know about Bart.  She also sent me a picture of Becky and Bart together when she went back to your boutique.  She sends her best to you as well.  She does not have a computer, and wants to call you, but knows how much correspondence you are dealing with now, and she is also having some health issues with Becky right now also.
I just want to let you know that our thoughts and prayers are with you!  A little over a year ago, a woman tried to steal my Blue from the dog park.  She lured him away with food in the area of the park that was not all the way fenced in and she took him back into the woods and down a bike trail away from the park.  It is a long story, but we found her and a dog she had with her taking Blue under a bridge two miles away from the park.  We honked and yelled and she kept going.  My husband jumped out of my van and yelled for Blue and he came running to us.  He was already under the bridge and had no idea we were there til he heard my husband's voice.  We did not even stay to deal with her.  Like you, we just wanted our dog back.  I have never been so terrified as I was that day.  I cannot even begin to understand people like that!
I know this letter is getting long, but I wanted to give you some background about how we know about Bart and the Beastie Boutique.  We are praying hard for Bart's safe return.  Our only wish this Christmas is that you have your Bart back safe in your arms.  That would make us very happy!  I wear the bracelet I purchased from your boutique quite often, but I'm now wearing it everyday to honor Bart.  The bracelet has beads with a toggle and heart charm on it with paw prints and the words 'Best Friend' engraved on it.  When people comment about the bracelet, I tell them where I got it, and also about Bart.  I know we cannot be of much help in Minnesota searching for Bart, but we will in every other way we can help send out the positive energy and prayers.  Just know that Bart has even touched hearts all the way to Rochester, Minnesota.  We will be thinking of you and Bart.  Best wishes!!
In this e-mail I'm sending you a picture of Blue in his goggles that he got from your boutique, hoping it will make you smile for a moment.  I've also been playing the slide show often and sending out the good and positive love and wishes for Bart.
Sincerely,
Cindy Thoreson-Arnold, Lowell Arnold, and Blue

Hey,
This is Laura, who posted some posters in the Puget sound. I thought I would jump on the Humane society website and take a look around for Bart. Im sure that you have already done this, and the dog that I found is not Bart, but he looked very similar. This one seems to have a leginimate story, but who knows?? Maybe whoever dropped him off made it all up? Anywho, Im sorry if this is no help, he just looks so much like your Bart. Good luck and let me know if anything arises.
Laura

Hello,
I am so sorry to hear about you dog bart.

Is there any word that he may have come to Spokane area??? Today while driving down one of our busy streets I saw a Beagle that had dapple markings.  I was driving so I did not get to stop, but this dog was chained up in front of a house and looked a lot like Bart (4-5 years old) enough that it made me comment to my fiance. Is there a way for some one to verify if it is him or not?  Does he have a special command or marking???

I hope you find him.

Denise V

I'm so sorry to hear about Bart going missing.  I have a male beagle as well, Otis, and I would be heartbroken if he ever went missing.  Please know that my prayers are with you daily and I pray for a safe return and a speedy one at that!

I am so sorry to hear about Bart.  I am very happy to be on your e-mail list so that I did hear.  My heart would be broken if I were to lose Tucker, my six year old Maltese.  I just had to write and tell you.  Also, to let you know how much I have enjoyed your notes and all the information your site provides.  just now Tucker appeared at my feet as he does so many times when I work here.  What on this earth would I do without his attention.  I think he knows I was writing about him.. I wish I could share my joy with you and, I pray, you will see him soon.

Sincerely, Cecelia

P.S.  I will send Tucker over to hit that Bush.

Hi, I am sorry to hear about your Bart. Funny thing is our beagle is also named Bart. Must be a common name for a beagle. We are from the Philippines. Your Bart is a great looking dog and I can see he is truly loved by so many. I do hope you find him soon. Trouble with our beagles is they are so very friendly and will just approach anyone never really barking and stuff. Good luck with your search. I hope your Bart comes home soon.

sincerely,
Mitch De Padua, Philippines
